FILM MEETS ART | Van Gogh Edition

The impact of Vincent Van Gogh’s work upon art and design cannot be overstated. His work presented new ways of seeing and of expression, which can be found recurring not only in galleries and museums around the world, but in the cinemas.

Vugar Efendi is a freelance filmmaker whose web series Film Meet Art made waves among the internet’s cinephiles for its elegant take on the influence of great art on cinema. Efendi produced three video essays that paired artworks by master painters alongside the films they influenced, before retiring the series to move onto new projects.

To celebrate the release of At Eternity’s Gate and the work of Vincent Van Gogh, we asked Efendi to reprise his Film Meets Art series for a special Van Gogh edition. The brilliance of this video essay is in its simplicity. All you need do is press play, and it will all make sense.

Many thanks to Vugar Efendi. You can find out more about Vugar’s work by visiting his website.
